Built between the years 1899 and 1900, the Sao Paulo-Rio Grande Railway Station is a solid, elegant and impressive neo-classic and art-nouveau style building. It was an international railway station for the Itararé - Uruguay line, and also a trade station. At that time, the railway station building stood out for its location and size; it was considered a first-class railway station.

As the railway system of Paraná became larger, the building of Paraná Station became too small to meet the demands of the increasing number of passengers and loads. Thus, the São Paulo-Rio Grande Raliway Station was built and inaugurated in the year 1900. It was enlarged in 1908, but its original architectural characteristics are preserved until today.

The building was protected in 1990 as a Cultural Heritage of Paraná. Nowadays it houses the headquarters of Biblioteca Pública Municipal Prof. Bruno Enei (City Public Library Teacher Bruno Enei).
