Considered the main natural attraction of Ponta Grossa, this conservation area comprises three main natural attractions: Sandstones – rocks with different forms, such as: a cup, a camel, among others; Furnas – huge craters with exuberant vegetation and water (water table); and Lagoa Dourada (Golden Lake) – its name originated from the golden color effect resulted from the sun rays over the water and the special vegetation – ‘mica’ - of the place.

Vila Velha State Park was closed for visitation during the years 2002 and 2004 for revitalization and recovering. Protected by the Historic and Artistic Heritage State Department in 1966, it shelters a variety of fauna: the rare maned wolves, ocelots, coatis, wild cats, bush dogs, iraras, ferrets, boars, dears, armadillos, woodpeckers, pigeons, partridges, anteaters, diverse species of birds, among others. The IAP (Instituto Ambiental do Paraná – Environmental Institute of Paraná) is in charge of the administration of the Park.
